ATLANTIC BEACH, Florida - A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued five children and two adults from a disabled fishing vessel that drifted toward shore in Nassau Sound, Florida.

The boaters notified the Coast Guard at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30 that their vessel was disabled, the anchor was not holding, and they were rapidly drifting to shore.

The helicopter crew intended to hoist all seven people from the boat and take them to the south end of Little Talbot Island, but weather conditions prevented the attempt.

A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission boat was able to reach the family. They were reunited at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville in Atlantic Beach.

No injuries have been reported.
