  • ORLANDO, Florida (AP) - An alligator attacked a landscaper working near a lake at Orlando International Airport.

The incident happened Wednesday as 50-year-old Philip Brian Letner cut weeds near the lake off of State Road 528 in Orlando.

Officials say the 8-foot alligator bit Letner on the leg. A co-worker came to his aid and the gator went back into the lake.

Orlando television station WESH reports Letner was taken to a hospital where he got stitches.

Airport workers caught the gator and officials say it will be killed.
