ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend a gay pride festival in Orlando.

Orlando City Commissioner Patty Sheehan officiated over the commitment ceremony of several gay couples on Saturday at Lake Eola.

The Orlando Sentinel reports the event also included a parade, fireworks, domestic-partner registration booth and vendors who assist in gay adoptions in Florida.

The registries provide unmarried couples with notification and visitation rights that married couples have at hospitals, funeral homes, schools and jails. But the rights are only good in Orange County.

The registries cost $18.50

Come Out With Pride Inc. has been organizing the event since 2005.
