Tallahassee, Florida - The political re-emergence of former Gov. Charlie Crist in the past couple of weeks is creating a buzz in political circles and raising speculation Crist might run as a Democrat against Gov. Rick Scott in 2014.

Crist left the Republican Party in 2010 and became an independent. Now he appears headed for the Democratic Party after endorsing President Obama for re-election, giving a speech at the Democratic convention and campaigning with the president.

So far, Crist has not joined the Democratic Party or raised the idea of running against Gov. Scott in 2014. But that possibility is getting a lot of attention.

On Monday, reporters asked Gov. Rick Scott if he was concerned about the prospect of facing Crist in the next election.

"My job is to be the best governor I can and the three things that citizens in our state care about are they want to make sure their child can get a great education so they can live the American dream. They want to be able to get a job so they can build a family and they don't want government to cause the cost of living to go up and that's what I think about every day."

Democratic Sen. Nan Rich has already said she's running for governor in 2014.

Other Democrats viewed as possible candidates, include Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and former state Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, who narrowly lost the governor's race to Scott in 2010.
