JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Gov. Rick Scott is a hit with conservatives.

The governor's approval rating with Florida voters might be low, but he was very well received Saturday at a gathering organized by the conservative RedState blog.

Scott talked about the policies he's put in place since taking office, ranging from drug testing welfare recipients to stripping teachers of tenure.

He made several jokes about people opposing his agenda, at one point saying, "If you do conservative things in Florida, you get sued."

Scott took credit for recent job growth in Florida. And while he said Florida needs a better federal partner and that this year's election is important, he didn't specifically mention presumed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
