FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. (WKMG) - The wife of a Flagler Beach police officer remains hospitalized Monday after being shot in the head days ago, but deputies have not released many details about the incident.
The wife of Flagler Beach Officer Robert MacDonald suffered a single gunshot wound to the head around 6:30 p.m. Friday at their west Flagler County home, sheriff's deputies said.
Deputies said the husband of 50-year-old Katherine MacDonald placed her in his Flagler Beach patrol car and radio-ed for EMTs to meet him because of the area where the couple lives. He drove her to the intersection of Country Road 302 and County Road 305, where she was airlifted to Halifax Medical Center. Her condition has not been released. According to the deputy report, she was bleeding heavily from the head but was standing and conscious at the time.
The Flagler County Sheriff's Office has not said who shot the woman, and the incident remains under investigation. According to the report, when she was asked what happened to her that night, she wouldn't respond to the EMTs, who said she seemed drunk and combative.
MacDonald has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the Sheriff's Office investigation, according to Flagler Beach Police Chief Dan Cody. He has been employed at the Flagler Beach polic since 2001.
No other details have been released.
