Former Florida GOP Chairman Jim Greer
Orlando, Florida -- A major victory Thursday for former Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer, an Orange County Judge has ordered the Republican Party to turn over documents that Greer has been seeking to defend himself in a criminal trial.
The Party claimed the documents were confidential and couldn't be used by Greer, who is accused of secretly paying himself to raise funds for the GOP.
Greer says he was paid a commission for the money he raised, and that it was done with the knowledge and blessing of Former Governor Charlie Crist, and former U.S. Senator George LeMieux.
While Crist says he had no knowledge of the deal, several high ranking Republicans have said in deposition that Crist isn't telling the truth.
Greer has been seeking the documents for almost two years, and because there are so many to turn over, the Judge postponed the trial.
It will now take place after the November election, but it was originally scheduled for the end of July.
