ORLANDO, Fla. (WKMG) - A 7-year-old boy is recovering Tuesday after being struck by a 14-year-old who was speeding from deputies in a stolen car.

Orange County deputies said that teenager is part of a much larger group of teens who are all accused of operating a chop shop.

The victim's father says his son is now out of the hospital and resting. Amazingly, he did not break any bones.

Sabriya William heard the 14-year-old suspect come crashing through her Highland Oaks apartment complex. The tire marks where he jumped the curb and plowed into the little boy, narrowly missing two other children, are still visible.

The crash was the culmination of a major auto theft bust on Saturday.

Deputies were tracking a stolen BMW at a nearby complex when they were tipped off that three Dodge Stratus vehicles, stolen from a parking lot at the Festival Bay Mall, were headed down Pine Hills Road. While responding to that call, they spotted the 14-year-old driving a fifth stolen vehicle. Deputies say that teen headed straight for the Highland Oaks apartment complex, which was filled with children playing outside.

Deputies say all the stolen cars were headed for a chop shop to be disassembled and sold for parts.

In all, deputies arrested five teens. Two 14-year-olds, two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old. In one of the five stolen cars recovered, officers also found a short-barreled shotgun in the back seat.

Right now, the teens are charged with operating a chop shop, grand theft and resisting an officer.
