Tallahassee, Florida - Gov. Rick Scott is still struggling with Florida voters according to a new poll.

Scott's latest approval rating drops to 39 percent in the Quinnipiac University poll. That's down from 41 percent in May.

The poll shows 49 percent of Florida voters disapprove of Scott's job performance.

Poll spokesman Peter Brown says part of Scott's problem is that his support from fellow Republicans is low compared to former Govs. Jeb Bush and Charlie Crist.

"Remember Jeb Bush's numbers with the Republicans? They were astronomical. Charlie Crist's numbers with Republicans were astronomical."

Voters are evenly split when asked if they like Scott personally, but they disapprove of his policies 49 percent to 37 percent.

"He's not doing particularly well, but today is June 20, 2012. If his numbers are like this on June 20, 2014 he would be concerned about re-election. But we have two-and-a half years to go. That's a long time," said Brown.

Brown says Florida voters give President Barack Obama a higher job approval than Gov. Scott.

"Floridians are higher on Barack Obama than they are on Rick Scott. But they side with Scott on the voter purge."

The poll also studied how Floridians feel about Scott's effort to purge non-citizens from voter rolls. It finds voters support that effort 60 - 35 percent.

Plus, voters support the "Stand Your Ground Law" 56 percent to 37 percent.

Asked about the poll on Wednesday, Gov. Scott said he was focusing on job numbers, not poll numbers.

"The number that I look at every month is our unemployment rate. As you know we're bucking the national trend. We've come down 2.5 percent in the last 17 months. I think the federal number is down .9 or .8 percent of one percent and if you look at the month of May the federal numbers got worse and our continued to get better. So that's the number I look at all the time."
