U.S. Coast Guard repatriates 92 Haitians, Cubans

MIAMI (AP) - The Coast Guard says it has returned more than 90 migrants to their Caribbean homelands after intercepting their boats at sea.

Coast Guard officials say 55 Cubans were picked up at sea in five separate interdictions since May 5. They were returned Thursday to Bahia de Cabanas, Cuba.

According to the Coast Guard, 37 Haitian migrants were picked up at sea Monday. They were returned Thursday to Cap-Haitien-Haiti.

The Coast Guard has picked up more than 1,400 Haitian and Cuban migrants since Oct.1. In the 2011 fiscal year, the Coast Guard picked up more than 1,100 Haitian migrants and 985 Cuban migrants at sea.
