TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The controversial issue of school prayer was once again up for discussion in the state's capitol.

A Senate committee approved the statewide school prayer bill SB 98, that would permit schools to allow prayer at graduations and football games.

Opponents of the measure says the bill violates the constitution and may ostracize students who do not support those religious views. The Anti-Defamation League is concerned the bill will be used to impose majority religious beliefs on minority faiths.

But supporters say there needs to be policies in place when it comes to prayer at school events.

This is the third year this bill has been introduced and it still has several more committee stops before the full Senate can vote.
