Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell (l-r) in scene from movie "Hit and Run", Open Road Films
(USA TODAY) Kristen Bell proposed to Dax Shepard on Twitter in June, when the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act and ruled that same-sex marriages should be allowed in California. (The actors had already announced their engagement in January 2010.)
And now the two are said to have quietly wed at the Beverly Hills County Clerk Office on Thursday. TMZ and Us Weekly are reporting that the couple went to get a marriage license.
The Veronica Mars actress, 32, and Parenthood actor, 38, who are parents to baby daughter Lincoln, are said to have then taken up a court employee's offer to marry them on the spot in a nearby courtroom. Bell, says TMZ, cried.
Neither star has mentioned the news so far.
But it sounds like it was just the ceremony she wanted. When USA TODAY's Andrea Mandell asked Bell about a wedding last year, she replied, "I don't want another day where I get dressed up and wear makeup and celebrate myself. We really don't want any attention for it."
