(The Desert Sun) -- Over the past five years we've watched Bryan Cranston's character Walter White change from a cancer-stricken chemistry teacher to a methamphetamine emperor on AMC's "Breaking Bad."

With the show's final season drawing to a close, Cranston's fans may be wondering what the actor has planned. If the gossip is true, they'll be happy about his next role.

TV's top meth dealer is about to be Clark Kent's worst nightmare, according to a report by Cosmic Book News. That's because Cranston has been cast as Lex Luthor in the sequel to this spring's "Man of Steel."

Cranston has signed a deal to appear in six or more films set in the DC Comics universe, according to rumors.

The pre-production title of the "Man of Steel" sequel, which is tentatively scheduled to hit theaters July 17, 2015, is "Batman vs. Superman," according to IMDb.com. Ben Affleck has been cast as Bruce Wayne, and Henry Cavill will return as Clark Kent. The website doesn't mention any other cast members.

Cranston's fans will have to wait until "Breaking Bad" ends on AMC before Warner Bros. makes an official announcement, according to Cosmic Book News.
