(USA TODAY) Kanye West's Yeezus sold 327,000 copies to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
It is the biggest sales week for a rap album since Drake's Take Care topped the chart with 631,000 in November 2011. For West, it was his sixth straight No. 1. His debut album, College Dropout, peaked at No. 2. He is now tied with Eminem for the second most chart-toppers by a rapper. Jay-Z, with whom West collaborated on Watch the Throne, has 12.
Yeezus' tally is the third largest this year behind only Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience's 968,000 and Daft Punk's Random Access Memories' 339,000. Early industry projections had Yeezus selling as much as 500,000 but those were scaled back once the album went on sale June 18.
