(USA TODAY) Mariah Carey's fans will have to wait a bit longer to hear her new album.
The singer, who has always been a perfectionist in the studio, took to Twitter Monday night to announce the delay of The Art Of Letting Go, which had been scheduled for a July 23 release.
"While making the new album," Carey tweeted, "I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don't feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23...I'd rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it's meant to be heard."
She didn't specify how long the wait would be, but assured everyone, "When I'm ready, you'll be the first 2 know!"
