(USA TODAY) There's more Yankee Doodle Downton on the way in Season 4.

In Season 3 of Downton Abbey, viewers met Cora's American mother, Martha Levinson (Shirley MacLaine). TV Line's Michael Ausiello is reporting that not only will she be back by the end of Season 4, she's bringing another family member with her:Cora's brother, Harold, who will be played by Paul Giamatti.

The veteran character actor does have experience doing period dramas - after all, he won an Emmy playing this country's second president in the 2008 HBO miniseries John Adams. But at least this time, he won't have to wear a wig.

Giamatti's character is being described as a maverick (we can believe that one based on what we know of Cora's family thus far) and a playboy (that one, maybe not so much).

Harold joins a parade of new characters, most notably Tom Cullen as a possible new love interest for the newly widowed Mary.

The fourth season is scheduled to hit American shores Jan. 5 on PBS.
