Giant LEGO Star Wars X-wing lands in New York's Times Square

New York -- The world's largest LEGO model, a massive Star Wars X-wing starfighter, was displayed in New York's Times Square Thursday.

The spectacular structure consists of more than 5.3 million of the company's multi-colored plastic bricks, weighs almost 46,000 pounds and took 32 builders about 17,000 hours to put together.

The event is promoting the new LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles animated series, which will debut May 29 on the Cartoon Network.

The X-wing's next stop after Times Square?  LEGOLAND California, where it is slated to stay until the end of 2013.
