Tampa, Florida - Producers from the TV show Top Gear were in town Tuesday, with a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. Reports circulating around the web suggested to fans that the car would be raced across the Gandy Bridge.
Show host Jeremy Clarkson's suggestive tweet, "Filming something a bit unusual for Top Gear today. Bet I don't make it to 11 before someone tweets a spoiler pic " likely sent dozens of the show's fans to the base of Gandy Bridge.
Initially, state transportation officials said there would be rolling roadblocks on the bridge, but later in the day, both producers of the show and state officials decided to cancel the shoot on the bridge, citing safety concerns brought on by the gathering crowd.
Crews did shoot scenic shots of the car in the Tampa area throughout the morning.
