BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) - Gov. Rick Scott is continuing to push his new education plan.

Scott appeared at the state Board of Education meeting Monday afternoon in Boca Raton, outlining his previously announced "College and Career FIRST" agenda. He drew praise from the board's members.

The plan includes proposals to avoid additional spending cuts, reduce regulations and expand charter schools.

The Republican governor also wants to stop introducing new tests unless they support planned common core standards and to provide debit cards for teachers to purchase classroom supplies.
