Manatee County Schools Superintendent Tim McGonegal announces retirement

Bradenton, Florida -- Manatee County School District Superintendent Tim McGonegal announced Wednesday he will retire effective Feb. 28, 2013.

McGonegal started his career in the Manatee County School District in January 2002 as the Assistant Director of Finance. He was then named Director of Finance in June 2004 and was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Business Services in February 2005.

McGonegal became superintendent in January 2009 replacing Dr. Roger Dearing who left to become Executive Director of the Florida High School Athletic Association.

In a release to the media, McGonegal cited personal reasons for his decision to leave his position.
