Tampa, Florida -- A lot of groups hold runs or walks for fundraisers, but the American Lung Association goes for something a little more vertical.
Their fundraiser on March 22 in Tampa is called the Fight for Air Climb. Participants will take on 41 flights (892 steps) in the Bank of America Plaza Tower.
1,000 people are expected to take part in the event. "Some people climb, because they've lost someone to lung cancer," said Emily Conklin of the American Lung Association. "Almost every family has been touched in some way by lung disease."
Several firefighting teams are also expected. They typically make the climb in full gear. "They're crazy and super competitive," Conklin said.
Money raised from the event will fund education and research activities in the Tampa Bay area. For more information, click here.
