Tampa, Florida -- South Tampa Veterinarian Dr. Hansel Leavengood is passionate about his pooches. He's also passionate about his ponytail.

"Had it for 20 years," said Leavengood.

But something he's had even longer is what's motivating him to consider snipping his tail. Diabetes.

"I've been a type-one diabetic for over 50 years. It has not stopped me from enjoying a healthy, normal life; and achieving my goals. Being knowledgeable about the disease, and taking care of yourself, is key. But having a supportive family and community helps!"

To that end -- Dr. Leavengood came up with the "Cut it or Keep it" campaign to raise awareness about diabetes and money for research and programs.  No matter which fund you contribute to -- the bucks benefit the new USF Health - Diabetes Home for Healthy Living.

So, should Dr. Leavengood keep his ponytail or cut it?

Vote here:
CUT IT!

KEEP IT!

All donations will be matched by The Patterson Foundation

All donors are invited to join Dr. Leavengood Sept. 10 to see if he Cuts it or Keeps it at the new USF Health - Diabetes Home for Healthy Living, located at 128C S. Westshore Blvd. in Tampa.

At 5 p.m., the final tally will determine if Cut it or Keep it wins!
