Clearwater, Florida - Stephen Coffeen, who admitted he killed his father in 2009, was released Friday from Community Control.
The 10 News Investigators first broke this story in 2009, when Coffeen initially said he killed his father because he was high on the Red Bull and had lack of sleep.
Coffeen was adjudicated not guilty because of an insanity plea and sentenced to 17 months in a mental institution.

He then spent the next year in a halfway house and is now free to return to California under psychiatric supervision.
The judge in the case, Nancy Ley, repeatedly said this is not a case where someone is walking out of court free.
Judge Ley says state law requires less supervision and incarceration if doctors say the individual is on the road to recovery.
