Tampa, Florida -- The City of Tampa is planning several events to mark the 10th observance of the Sept. 11 attacks.
The commemoration begins at 8 a.m. at the American Victory Ship Mariners Museum at Channelside.
10 News anchor Reginald Roundtree will host the event, featuring guest speakers from Tampa's Fire and Police Department, the Navy Sea Cadets, and the MacDill Air Force Base Rifle team.
Admission is free and will include a continental breakfast courtesy of Publix.
From 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., the events will move to the Tampa Firefighters Museum at 720 E. Zack Street.
The event will include Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn and other city officials, the Rolling Thunder Freedom Rally Group, the Tampa Bay Pipe and Drum Corps to honor those killed in the 9/11 attacks.
Those attending will also witness the dedication of a special 9/11 memorial mural.
Other 9/11 observances will include:
- Friday, Sept. 9, 5:30 p.m. -- Palmetto Historical Park at 514 10th Ave. West, Palmetto. Mayor Shirley Bryant will preside.
- Saturday, Sept. 10, noon - 8 p.m. -- AMVETS Brandon Remembrance Ride benefiting Veterans and First Responders. The ride will begin at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa and continue to the Showman's Club at 6915 Riverview Drive in Riverview. Music will be provided at Diamon Gray, Pit Bull Warrior and the Greg Billings Band.
